| Home Wireless Networking
Recently I gave a presentation in class, on;
Home Wireless
Networking
Safety and
Security
Concerns and
Considerations
I also make some
recommendations.
I hope it helps.
So, check it out and give them a try.
Of course, if necessary, I can also do it for you (for a
fee).
Estimated time necessary for configuring one
router and one computer is one - two hours.
Just see my service area, and give me a call.
Here's what happened when I re-imaged my
laptop;
-
I made a backup of all the important files on my laptop (I
*hope*!).
-
I re-imaged the laptop
-
I was connected to my neighbor's wireless for the next few
steps(!!!)
-
I ran Windows Update to update the PC
-
I updated the driver for the wireless card in my
laptop
-
I installed the update for WPA2 from Microsoft
-
-
This update to Windows XP provides support
for Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2), which is the latest standards-based
wireless security solution derived from the IEEE 802.11i
standard.
-
(It is not available via Windows
Update!!!)
-
I re-booted the laptop
-
Then, I took my USB flash drive and setup my secure wireless
connection
-
I manually disconnected from my neighbor's
wireless
-
I connected right away to my
secured home network!
